Just some stuff for Haven's baby book

So, I'm a bad mom. I have baby books for Nathan, Daniel, and Peter (kinda). Andrew's is mostly blank. Sarah and Rachel have a journal that I haven't updated in about 2 years--I keep meaning to, but I'm just too tired or too busy :( Ethan really doesn't have anything like a baby book. BUT, I probably have more pictures of him than of the others. And, now, Haven's babyhood is going to be documented here on my blog. I'll have to print this out for her someday :)

Anyway, Haven cut her first tooth on my birthday!! Her bottom right tooth has popped through. I'm thinking the other bottom tooth should be coming soon. She's so cute with it--she keeps licking it, trying to figure out what that rough thing is in her mouth :)

Today--the 25th--I had to take her to the doctor to get immunized :( We really don't like to do that before the baby is 2 years old, but pertussis is going around yet again--yippee. The other 7 kids had that last year for Christmas (Merry Christmas!) and we don't need it again. Plus, it's very dangerous for babies. So, we prayed and asked Dr. Joshua (!) and talked and thought and decided that really the decision was quite simple. Haven got her first shot today and will have to go back in 2 months and then again 2 months later. She did soooo well. She didn't even cry--just a tiny little squawk. The nurse gave her a shiny, sparkly silver bandaid :)

While we were at the doctor, he did her 4 month check up (another thing we typically don't do--go to the doctor for well baby visits). Haven is now 26 inches long (started at 19)--the length of an average 6 month old--and she is 17 lbs, 15 ozs (started at 7, 11)--the size of an average 8 month old!!!!!! The doctor actually wants me to stop nursing as much and give her cereal instead because it has fewer calories. Umm, no thanks.

Pictures will be coming soon. With school having started, I don't have as much time in the evenings to upload and blog--I need to correct papers. But, I'll try to get some on here sometime this week.

September 21, 2010

A day to *not* remember!!!! I never thought I would ever be 40. I mean, really, that sounds so old. Forty--40. I remember when my parents turned 40. Now, I'm 40 and my kids will remember it someday. I really don't feel 40, but, then again, what does 40 feel like? I woke up to a baby calling me, I nursed, changed diapers, made breakfast, went to the store, cleaned the house (or, rather, made the kids do it!), did laundry, and prepared to make dinner (my neighbor surprised me with dinner--and she didn't even know it was my birthday!!). Well, I could wax sentimental and list all my blessings or I could be cynical and list all my headaches (!) But...it's almost 5pm and I need to make sure dinner is ready and the baby is fed and the kids are ready for church and I'm ready for church and, and, and,.............. :)

Oh, I was born in Ann Arbor, MI at St. Joe at 7:06 pm. I weighed 7lbs, 6 ozs. I don't know how long I was. My dad was in Vietnam for 3 more months. I lived with my grandparents (and mom) for awhile. (I remember none of the above.)

Coming soon to a blog near you!!

I'll be back--super soon. I just need to get a few more things done for the beginning of school. We're a bit disorganized around here and I don't have a lot of time to blog about it :) Plus, several of us have minor colds (yours truly included--and Haven). I'll try to put something up by Friday. I have a lot of pictures again and would like to get them on here; I'm just lacking the time.

Family night at the park--part 2

Here are the rest of the pictures. Hope they aren't too boring :) We had such a good time--the weather was beautiful!

First picture on the grass

Obviously, we didn't really enjoy it :)

Cute baby feet!

Now, it's Mom's turn to kick the soccer ball. Give me a break--it has been many years since my prime :)

Look at that form!

Oh, my aching back! I guess I should've stretched first :)

Well, I had better things to do with my time. I needed to cuddle a crying baby.

Nathan--he didn't have as much fun as the rest of us.

Peter--ready to kick

Making a save!!

Guess who?!?! She didn't want her picture taken at first!

Then, every 30 seconds, it was, "Mom, look at me. Take my picture."

Cute Rachel ;)

Sweet Sarah

She loves to climb up and slide down this pole!

Another one of her favorites

Two little sweeties :)

Time to go home

Happy Labor Day!! Hopefully, you won't have to do too much laboring ;) Just sit back and enjoy the 'no-air-conditioner-necessary' weather!!!!!!!! (By the way, I love Fall as much as the next guy, but cool Fall temperatures right after a week of 90 degree weather is a bit much. Sunday-90, Mon-94, Tues-92, Wed-87, Thurs-80 something, Fri-75, Sat-30 below!! Well, maybe it was closer to 63, but it felt like 30 below. Rachel said it was snowing!!)
